My dad was never at a loss of words when it came to giving advice. (usually unsolicited) He would quote anyone from Deepak Chopra to Warren Buffett. Unfortunately many of these pearls of wisdom went in one ear and out the other. I did however, retain some of his "Dadisms."
1) "Pull my finger" (really?!?)
2) "Don't tell your mother" (why not? she always finds out)
3) "I'm not a wallet" (physically no, but technically you pretty much paid for everything, thanks!)
4) "Go get me a beer, and don't tell your mother." (once again, she knows! she just knows!!)
I was recently in New York City for a girls weekend and was subjected to one of the most exhilarating cab rides ever! It was a combination of NASCAR meets Grand Theft Auto. (good times!) I arrived in one piece and headed straight for the hotel bar to share my harrowing experience with the bartender (my new best friend for the weekend) He just smiled and nodded.
